Home birth is a tradition that dates from the beginning of time. Being at home during labor enhances your autonomy to make informed decisions over your own body and your baby’s health. Individualized care means respect for your decisions and your beliefs and never dismissing your fears or concerns.

Other benefits associated with being at home include the freedom to move and to eat and drink.  Less interventions and more respect for the normalcy of birth definitely contribute to having a positive experience of birth.

Research has demonstrated that indeed births at home can be safe. However, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes or heart disease, you may not be a good candidate for a home birth".

My role as a homebirth midwife is to support and guide this normal process and to ensure its safety. Preparation for a homebirth including good nutrition, childbirth education, book resources and doula support will provide you the opportunity to embrace the labor and be familiar to it as this experience will profoundly affect you and those who surround you. In addition to all of this, getting to know you will help us develop a relationship of trust which will provide me the opportunity to know how to help you and be of service to you.
